Shirel Golan Nova Survivor Suicide: A woman who survived the October 2023 Hamas massacre at the Supernova music festival in Kibbutz Re’im has taken her own life on what was supposed to be her 22nd birthday. Shirel Golan died by an apparent suicide.

Shirel Golan’s parents said she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and complained that the government did not intervene in their daughter’s suffering. The 22-year-old was found dead in her apartment over the weekend. According to her parents, Golan attempted to take her own life twice and finally passed away on the third trial.

According to the family of Shirel Golan, who turned 22 today, she has been hospitalized twice and has suffered from post-traumatic symptoms ever since she escaped the terror onslaught. These symptoms include disassociation and withdrawal.

It was reported in Hebrew media that her brother Eyal was cited as stating, “I observed that she exhibited symptoms of post-traumatic stress, such as withdrawing from her friends and putting distance between herself and them.” I requested that she not neglect her well-being. It was said by her that she does not receive any assistance from the state. She stated that the [Tribe of Nova Community Association] is the sole organization that assists her.

He argues, “If the state had taken care of her, none of this would have resulted in any of this happening.”

The Welfare and Social Services Ministry has issued a refutation of the family’s accusations, which was published by both Israel Hayom and Ynet news. The ministry states that Golan was “recognized and treated in the welfare system even before the family received assistance.”
