Emily McDuff was born and raised in Homewood, Alabama. Emily McDuff, PE, MBA, CEM, LEED AP was an energy engineer and renewable energy developer. She combined her background in engineering, business, and community engagement to improve the sustainability of the built environment.
Emily enjoyed yoga, running, piano, travel, community events, church, and French language and culture. Until her death, Emilie worked at RWE as a Renewable Energy Development Manager. She was a graduate of The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, University of Virginia, and the Homewood High School.

She spent most of her Saturdays helping build houses for underserved families in the community or poor families in the community. In every house that she assisted in building, Emily learned new technical skills like how to do insulation, or how to do a foundation, or a roof.
