Jacob Baldwin Death: A heartbroken Midlothian, Virginia mother has cried out to the public for help after her son passed away in a deadly assault on a northside street over the weekend. Renee Baldwin accounted on Facebook that her son, Jacob Baldwin tragically died after he was attacked and beaten on West Marshall Street in Midlothian.
“My son Jacob Baldwin died yesterday as a result of a fatal brain injury from an assault on him in downtown Richmond around 2:00 AM early Saturday morning. In an effort to raise awareness and media attention in order to help catch his assailant, we are holding a vigil for him tomorrow at 11 am near the site of the assault: 2800 block of West Marshall St on the north side of the street. There will be a separate memorial service for Jacob. Details to be shared in the near future,” The Virginia Commonwealth University graduate accounted.
According to law enforcement agencies, the 26-year-old man was struck in the head by an unidentified subject. On Saturday, October 12, just before 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of West Marshall Street for a report of an aggravated assault. Officers responded and discovered Jacob Baldwin, 26, of Midlothian, unconscious and unresponsive at the junction of West Marshall and North Sheppard streets, with a head injury.
He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died on Wednesday. The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death. According to detectives, Baldwin was hit over the head by an unknown man. The Baldwin family is asking that anyone may provide information regarding what transpired Friday night and early Saturday morning in the Scott’s Addition neighborhood leading up to the assault.
