A teenage woman was hurt after being assaulted ‘with a knife’ near Atherstone Train Station. A significant number of police and emergency service cars were seen rushing down Long Street earlier Tuesday afternoon.
Warwickshire Police stated that police were responding to 999 reports about a woman who had been ‘assaulted with a knife’ near the train station. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) medics were also rushed to the location. The woman, who has not been recognized but is in her 20s, was treated on the scene before being sent to the hospital.
Police surrounded the area, looking for the culprit, who was armed with what seemed to be a tiny knife. They later met up with a man nearby. The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding. He’s been brought into custody.
“Officers do not believe there was a wider threat to the community,” a police spokesperson stated. “Any witnesses to the incident should contact police, quoting incident number 137 of October 22.”
