East London Stabbing Investigations: A woman and two children were stabbed in east London. According to the Metropolitan Police, officers were dispatched to First Avenue in Dagenham at bout 5.35 p.m. after receiving complaints of a stabbing.
A mother in her thirties and two children, an eight-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy, were discovered with stab wounds. “We await a condition update for the woman and the two-year-old boy,” the police told reporters.
“The eight-year-old girl’s injuries are not life-threatening.” The police first reported that both injured children were girls. A man was detained at the site on suspicion of attempted murder.
He was also transported to the hospital after becoming ill, according to police, but was released into prison after being assessed. Detective Superintendent Lewis Basford, in charge of policing in Barking and Dagenham, said: “This is a very awful act, and I’d want to thank area residents for their help and patience while we deal with this crime.
“At this early stage, we believe those involved were known to each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”A crime scene will stay in place for some time as our officers complete critical tasks, and you will see a heightened police presence in the area in the following days.” The London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance were also dispatched to the area.
