John Enright, Farmington, CT Death: John Michael Enright, 34, of Farmington, CT died on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, following a 6-month fight with cancer. John was born on July 12, 1990, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John Lewis and Susan McLoughlin Enright from Stratford.
He attended St. Mark’s School and Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Sports Communication from Marist College. He made lifelong friends at Marist and was a proud member of John Enright & His Merry Men, an intramural dodgeball team.

After graduation, John moved on to work as a creative producer for ESPN, his ideal job. John has always maintained that he grew up at ESPN, and that his fondest memories there included meeting his wife, animator Amanda Wagner Enright. The couple married on Cape Cod last year, and he enjoyed becoming a father to their dog, Frito.
During his 12-year tenure at ESPN, he oversaw the creative execution and strategy for projects ranging from Monday Night Football to NBA to SportsCenter. He came to work every day eager to bring people together. He had a soft spot in his heart for entry-level personnel, whom he sought out and trained. Aside from the five Emmys he earned, his lasting legacy is that he made time to serve everyone, regardless of circumstance.

In his personal life, John was a die-hard sports fan, supporting both the New England Patriots and his beloved Mets. He also lived for the college basketball season, waiting all year for March Madness. He enjoyed reading about Star Wars and American history, as well as watching Marvel films. John will be remembered for his kind-hearted personality and contagious laugh. He will also be remembered for his remarkable humility during his brief battle with illness; he retained his sweet smile and polite demeanor, remaining constant in his fierce hope until his final breath.

He is survived by his wife Amanda of Farmington, his parents, John and Susan of Stratford, his brother Kevin and fiancé Samantha of Hamden, and his in-laws, Alan and Kathleen of Lubbock, Texas. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Frito, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends. He is the grandson of the late John and Margaret Enright of Cos Cob, Connecticut, and Michael and Mary McLoughlin of Chappaqua, New York.
