Father of Missing Finn Creaney fears the worst after his son’s knapsack is discovered near Loch Naver. The father of missing hillwalker Finn Creaney says they are “preparing for the worst” after his son’s backpack was discovered on the banks of Loch Naver. Mark Creaney recorded a short video on TikTok this evening to inform fans of the latest developments, 18 months after his son went missing.
Finn was last seen in March 2022, hiking from Loch Naver to Golspie. His family has promised to never give up hope, as they are committed to “bring our boy home.” However, his father expresses concern about recent occurrences. In his most recent message, his father stated that his son’s bag was discovered on the shores of the Highland loch two weeks ago.
The family now believes the 33-year-old survival instructor tried to swim in the lake but did not make it. In the one-minute, 54-second tape, he explained: “As you know Finn went missing 18 months ago on his hike from Loch Naver to Golspie and despite searching the hills for all that time, we found no clues to him being there.”That was until two weeks ago when a couple of deer stalkers on their way to Altnaharra discovered Finn’s knapsack by the side of Loch Naver.
“Upon careful study of the bag and its contents, as well as a few other items that I can’t get into, we now suspect Finn attempted to swim the loch to cut his journey time to cut his journey time to the coast.
“Finn is a really strong swimmer and a good wild swimmer but for some reasons, we don’t know about, we fear that he may not have made the swim.”Last week, police divers searched the area where the rucksack was discovered as a potential starting point, but found nothing. Finn was last seen on March 25 of last year, after being dropped off to begin a walk around Loch Naver.
He was discovered on the B873 public road in Sutherland, where it is thought he began his journey around the loch before traveling south to Golspie. A multi-agency search operation was initiated to locate him, but their efforts were fruitless. Since his abduction, his father has often ventured into the Highlands area in an attempt to locate him. Mr Creaney has promised to keep digging until he discovers what happened.
He claims that the recent news has come as a complete shock to Finn’s family and loved ones. He went on to say, “This is a devastating blow to Finn’s family, as well as everyone else who cares about and loves him. Unfortunately, we are bracing for the worst, but I will keep you updated, hopefully, as things go. “As always, we are committed to bringing our son home to us. “We need him home.”
