Bryan James Rahm and Emily Pennartz Death: Two people were killed and five others were flown to metroplex hospitals in critical condition following a head-on collision on U.S. 81/287 near Alvord Saturday night.
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Tony De La Cerda said a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by Emily Marie Pennartz, 25, of Wichita Falls was northbound on U.S. 81/287 near Hubbard Street when she failed to negotiate a curve in the road, lost control, drove across the median and into the southbound lanes. The vehicle struck a 2020 Toyota Camry driven by Bryan James Rahm, 36, of Kemp. The wreck occurred shortly after 9 p.m.
Several Wise County fire departments and law enforcement agencies responded to a fatal accident Saturday night near Alvord. Emily Pennartz was flown with critical injuries to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth. A third passenger, Trace Pennartz, 6, was flown with serious injuries to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth.

Five separate medical helicopters transported patients from the scene to the hospitals across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The patients were all in critical condition, Wise County EMS Chief Randall Preuninger said.
PHI Med-10 flew one patient to Cook Children’s Hospital in Fort Worth. PHI Med-2 transported to Medical City Denton. Three Careflight helicopters flew patients to Medical City Denton, Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.
Southbound traffic on U.S. 81/287, north of Franklin Street, was brought to a standstill for hours as first responders worked the scene. According to an online fundraiser, the Pennartz family was driving home from a wedding before the accident. Preuninger said Wednesday that the majority of the patients hospitalized were stabilizing.injuries.
