Bishop Marvin Winans: Prayers have been asked for the American pastor, gospel singer, and founder of the Perfecting Church, Bishop Marvin Winans who suffered an episode during a sermon section on Wednesday.
The 66-year-old father of two passed out on the pulpit at his church in Toledo, OH, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. The incident happened at the Perfecting Church in Toledo. EMS responded to the location and rushed the preacher to a hospital where he was treated and released after a few hours of bed rest. On Friday the gospel preacher released a video thanking the community for their prayers and concern following the incident.
“Thank you all for your concern following the unexplained episode. The doctor thinks I suffered dehydration. “My heart and lungs is good”. I want you to know that ” I AM FINE, I FEEL GREAT, AND I AM EXCITED,” Bishop Marvin Winans said in his video.

Bishop Marvin Winas collapsed while preaching on Wednesday. The video which went viral showed when the Detroit, Michigan-born fell unto his stand as he preached.
He established The Perfecting Church in Detroit, Michigan, in 1989. On Saturday, February 18, 2012, at 12:00 (EST), Winans preached the eulogy during Whitney Houston’s funeral at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey. Marvin was previously married to gospel singer Viviane “Vickie” Winans, née Bowman, for 16 years, until their divorce in 1995.
His sons, Marvin Jr. (Coconut), Josiah Winans, and stepson Mario “Skeeter” Winans, are all musicians. Mario is a producer and an R&B singer. Josiah Winans is a producer that worked on Marvin Jr.’s debut solo effort. Marvin Jr., a former member of Winans Phase 2, is a solo musician, producer, and pastor at Perfecting Home Church. Marvin Winans married Dr. Deneen Carter in April 2022.
