Brad Pautsch Obituary: Former Sports Director at KTIV died from cancer; Sioux City, IA mourns Bradley Pautsch’s death

Brad Pautsch Obituary: The family of Iowa native and Former KTIV outstanding sports director, Brad Pautsch has died. The Early, Iowa native passed away after a long battle with cancer, the wife, Sally Eckman Pautsch, wrote on the CaringBridge account.

“Our family sad to announce the death of Brad, our beloved husband, dad, brother, son. Brad passed away Saturday Oct. 19 at 10:30 in the morning. He came to hospice on October 9th after a new diagnosis after symptoms and declines in abilities. Our hearts are broken, but we are so glad he came home and was extremely comfortable and enjoyed family by his side. He had many visits, calls, and I read many texts to him. He loved you all.”

Brad was a graduate of Crestland High School and Iowa State University. Brad was an amazing man who battled a tough diagnosis with great courage and never complained. After working as a weekend sports presenter at KTIV since May 1990, Brad Pautsch was appointed Sports Director in 1996. Brad, one of the many native Siouxlanders employed at “Siouxland’s News Channel,” grew up on a farm close to Early, Iowa.

Brad received multiple honors from KTIV, including first place for “Sports Reporting” in 2007 from the Iowa Broadcast News Association and “Best Sportscast” in 2004, 2012, and 2013 from the Iowa Broadcast News Association for his coverage of the Crestland Cadets football team. He received the IBNA’s Best Sports “Play by Play” award in 2004, 2009, and 2010.

In 1984, Brad received his diploma from Early, Iowa’s Crestland High School. He began his career in broadcasting as a news and sports reporter at KASI radio while he was a student at Iowa State University.

Brad’s wife, Sally, works as an art teacher in Sioux City. Together, they have a son named Joseph and a daughter named Mary who gave birth to a baby boy named Reggie in 2007. Brad enjoys playing basketball and baseball in his free time.
