David McGraw Toronto Obituary: The Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer at Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, David McGraw has passed away. He was a great husband to Mary (nee Mahoney) and a loving brother to Julia and Donna. McGraw died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, from cancer.

McGraw is predeceased by his parents Audrey (2021) and Robert (2020) McGraw, David was the nephew of Jeanne Guy (Hilton Head Island, SC). He will also be much missed by his extended family, which includes siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and their children.

David McGraw Family, Children, Biography

David grew up in Montréal. At the age of eleven, he spent the majority of his summer with his pals at Expo 67. This sparked his interest in travel, foreign politics, and global issues. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and his MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. He was a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD).

After graduating from McGill, David relocated to Toronto and joined the chartered accounting firm Clarkson Gordon. After earning his MBA, he worked in Vancouver before returning to Toronto to focus on mergers and acquisitions in both corporate and consultancy capacities.

David McGraw Obituary and Funeral Arrangements.

David was appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan in 2004 and served in that post for seventeen years. Despite his retirement, David continued to represent Ontario Teachers as a board member and Audit Committee Chair for several portfolio firms in Canada and abroad. David was an active member of the Global Accountability for Sustainability (A4S) CFO Leadership Network (Canadian Chapter), which is part of the HM King Charles III Charitable Fund Group of Charities. David also served on the Board of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Toronto.

David was deeply committed to his family, the development of others, and the pursuit of knowledge. He cherished the friendships he formed at work and on the tennis court at the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, Hillsboro Club (Florida), Royal Canadian Yacht Club (Toronto), and Harbour Town Yacht Club (South Carolina). David’s legacy will be carried on in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered as a loving spouse, brother, nephew, uncle, teacher, mentor, amazing storyteller, and wonderful friend.

On Saturday, October 19, 2024, there will be a memorial service at the York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Ontario M2N 5Z5. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30pm, followed by a memorial ceremony and reception.
