Gail Evans Obituary, Orlando, Florida: The Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Disney Experiences, Gail Evans has tragically passed away. The Orlando, Florida native died unexpectedly following a brief illness.
The family announced that the longtime Chief Technology Officer was pronounced dead surrounded by her loved ones. Gail Evans was a graduate of the University of Rochester-Simon Business School and Nazareth University. Gail led the lead a dynamic team of technologists, designers, project managers, innovators, and storytellers to bring Disney’s iconic characters to life for millions of fans and families around the world.

Gail Evans provided breakthrough technical solutions, the team created an expanding range of goods and experiences such as MagicBand+ and Hey Disney!, which tie the digital and physical worlds together and extend Disney’s iconic storytelling into an infinite future. Gail’s commitment to innovation that improves the visitor experience has resulted in the evolution of these new items, which have been inspired by breakthroughs in research techniques and a lab setting where discoveries are constantly evaluated by Disney customers and employees.
Gail has decades of experience transforming leading organizations through the use of technology to generate growth, accomplish digital transformation, and create new business models. Gail most recently served as Mercer’s first Chief Digital Officer. Before that, she held senior leadership positions in a variety of industries, including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard, Bank of America, and several positions at Eastman Kodak Company, including CIO of Eastman Kodak’s Consumer Digital business.
In appreciation of these and other accomplishments, Gail was named a finalist for the MIT Sloan CIO Leadership Award in May 2019. Gail won the Digital Diversity Network’s Phenom Award in November 2018, which recognizes trailblazers in digital media and technology. Gail’s professional path was highlighted in the Netflix documentary series Working: What We Do All Day, and in 2024, she was named an InspiringFifty UK recipient, which honors the top 50 women driving results in digital careers throughout the UK.
Gail has a bachelor’s degree from Nazareth College and an MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon Business School. She also received an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Nazareth College.
In addition to her professional responsibilities, Gail is passionate about mentoring the next generation of female technology executives and leading programs to make the workplace more inclusive for all. She is particularly concerned about connecting academic research to real-world applications and is an active member of MIT’s Centre for Information Systems Research (CISR).
